Mr. Sajid Shariff

Mr. Shariff is a UK trained Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in foot and ankle surgery.
He qualified from Charing Cross Medical School and completed his specialist training on the North West Thames rotation. He undertook fellowships in Foot and Ankle Surgery at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore with Dishan Singh, former President of BOFAS, and at Clinique de l’Union, Toulouse with Jean Alain Colombier, former President of IFAS.
In 2009, he was appointed as a Consultant Foot and Ankle Orthopaedic Surgeon at Medway, where he is the only foot and ankle surgeon. He also receives tertiary referrals of complex problems from neighbouring trusts.
He is recognised by the GMC as a trainer: four of his trainees have gone on to become Consultant Foot and Ankle Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a member of the Court of Examiners of the Royal College of Surgeons in England and a faculty member of Medway and Kings FRCS training courses.
He regularly publishes research, including a clinical test for the spring ligament and the involvement of the spring ligament failure in adult acquired flatfoot deformity.
Working with a multi-disciplinary team he offers a comprehensive range of conservative and surgical treatment options for foot and ankle problems.
Areas of specialist interest
Forefoot deformities and conditions, including hallux valgus (bunion), scarf osteotomy, hammer toes, Weil osteotomy, toe corrections, and Morton’s neuroma.
Ankle and sports injuries, ankle arthroscopy, ankle ligament reconstruction, and osteochondral lesions.
Tendon problems, including Achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, tibialis posterior tendonitis – Injections, shock wave therapy, orthotics.
Arthritic and rheumatoid conditions – first MTP/midfoot/ankle fusions.
Deformity correction, including ankle and midfoot osteotomies and tendon transfers.

Sajid Shariff has been preparing medico legal reports since 2009.

His consultant trauma experience comes from a busy district general hospital with a catchment area of 500,000. he is on call 1 in 8 with weekly fracture clinics covering the full range of orthopaedic trauma including non surgical spinal cases.
Clinical Negligence
Sajid’s elective practise is wholly in the area of foot and ankle surgery and he receives referrals from a wide spectrum of primary care including GP, physiotherapy, podiatry, orthotics, chiropody and other orthopaedic surgeons.
